Babies: 3 - 6 Months

he insists I stand!

Does anyone else's LO insisit they stand when holding them when they get fussy?  Mine does.  What I don't get is why?  Or how does he even know I'm not standing?  I'm holding him the same way.  DD was the same way.  Has anyone heard or read anything about this?

Re: he insists I stand!

  • yah, its like they get tired of You sitting. must be the angle at which we hold them or something.

  • DD does this too. If she's fussy or upset and I'm holding her sitting down, forget it that doesn't work. I have to stand up and usually as soon as I stand up she starts calming down. She likes it when we walk around or sway back and forth when she's upset or trying to go to sleep. She's not one for being rocked or anything. I don't know how they know you're standing up or what the difference is but to her there is one!!

  • Baby girl went through a phase for a couple weeks where we could not sit with her at all.
  • DS was doing this last night when we went out to eat!  I'm sure he just wanted the better view, but it made it really hard to eat.
  • my dd is the same way.  its like there is a fussy button or something on your booty!

For me it's a back issue.  He's getting heavier and my lower back hurts when I hold him for longer than 5 mintues or so.

  • Yep! I found one position that worked in the glider where she didn't cry, otherwise forget it! It seemed like she was happier if I just put her down all together. Not sure why LO's do that!

  • Yes, I hate it when that happens.  I find it funny at the same time.

  • It just started recently...he used to love to be rocked in the glider so hopefully it's just a phase.  lol
  • DS is like that.  My back hurts too.
  • totally! ok i'm glad im not the only one. she also has to be facing out- shes gotta see whats going on. i'm thinking its b/c around three months they can see a lot more, and they want you to walk around so they can check stuff out, plus the movement.

i feel like my lo is in an inbetween stage, where she's not that interested in her infant seat and swing anymore, but she does't quite work in a jumperoo, or anything like that.

  • My DD definitely hates when I am sitting and holding her.  I dunno what it is but when she's fussing as soon as I stand up she is happy.
