Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Silly tub ?

When your DC learned how to sit up, did you immediately put them in the actual tub, or did you get an in-between tub, like one of the inflatable ones?  Right now we have the standard blue tub - it says infant to toddler, but I don't see how that's possible.  She's a small 6-month old and looks ridiculous in it.  Anyway I'm not confident enough in her sitting skills yet to put her in the actual tub, but wondering if an in-between one is a waste of $$ or helpful.

Re: Silly tub ?

  • DD is sitting in the "toddler" side of the little tub she has - which we put in the big bathtub. We're going to get her an inflatable ducky tub when she can sit up unassisted more - they're cheap, so I think it is worth it! And DD would look so tiny in our tub!

  • a friend of mine has a little 16 month old and she still bathes her in the duck tub so for ten bucks i'd say it was worth it for ten months!
  • We use the inflatable duck one.  I have tried to just put her in the tub, but she tried to crawl around, slipped and gave us both a little heart attack.

  • I went right from the infant tub to the big tub. she did fine but she was older then 6 months....i put her on the side of the infant tub with out the seat for a while, it is bigger and she sat on her own in there for a while then went to the big tub.
  • I bathed her in the infant tub on the sink for as long as I could (so much easier on your back).  Then when she was sitting up and splashing too much - I don't remember what age - I put the infant tub in the big tub.  I liked the support it gave her.   Then eventually I put the infant tub away and just did the big tub.   I didn't want to spend money on more baby gear - but sometimes I'm cheap like that. :)
