We aren't PG or TTC but we are always talking about boy's names. If we have a boy his name will be Grant and have had a hard time agreeing on a middle name. I really like Grant Addison and it IS actually a boys name but of course it is now popular as a girl's name. I will admit that while I am not a fan of boy's names for girls, Addison is one that I am not as opposed to as some others--but at the end of the day it is still traditionally male. I know it is up to us in the end, but I'm curious what others think. Is Addison a boy's name or a girl's name (in your opinion)?

I think that especially used in a middle name it sounds good as a boys name. My name is Margaux Adrian and my parents used the boy spelling for Adrian and I think it sounds good.
DH and I plan on using a traditional boy name as a middle name if we have a girl (it's picked out but we're keeping it a secret).
Grant Addison sounds really handsome to me!
That's right! Forgot about that! Thank you for helping me make my case!
At first glance I think girl (probably because of Greys) but I think Grant Addison sounds like a good boys name.
Of course I'm not one to talk about the gender issue:-)
Do you like Atticus? I do!
You did it right though... like you, most people I know go with a girly or traditional middle name if they have a unisex first name. However, we have friends who just had a baby girl and named her Blake (which I don't think of as a unisex name but rather a completely boyish name) and then gave her a boyish middle name as well (Carson or Carter or Cameron or something). Let's just say for argument's sake that it is Carson... does Blake Carson sound girlish at all? I just don't get it but that's fine. I mean would you have ever named Ryan something like Ryan Carter or Ryan Blake since you went with a unisex first name? And I'm not judging either, I think everyone should pick the name that they love, I'm just curious.
I do! I love names from classic literature too! I did actually throw that one out there but DH prefers more traditional names and at the end of the day I probably do too.
That is exactly why she has a traditional "girly" middle name. I figure if she hates Ryan down the road, she can choose to go by Elizabeth if she wants. And of course Elizabeth is my middle name too:-)
A friend of mine just had a nephew named Page. Yep...spelled just like that.
I think it should be a boys name, mainly because it has "son" in it. But that being said I can only picture a girl when I hear it....but that's probably because I've only know girls with that name. But I think Grant Addison sounds great!
Right now our front runner for future girls names is Avery....which is traditional male, but I only know girls with that name. If we do have a girl and go with that name she will have a girly middle name.
And to further prove my point, Addison is a family name on DH's side and it just so happens that the original Addison was a pirate and was definitely a manly, man.
I'm not expecting yet, but I have my names picked out already
If I have a girl it will be Addyston Belle and a boy will be Michael William all of the names except for Addyston are family names and Addyston I just love for a girl. I know it's not the same as Addison, but I associate them both with girls and I am will most of the PP's, I think it all has to do with Greys!

I love Grant Addison! I vote boy since only up until a few years ago I had only heard it as a male name. I think it is hugely popular now as a girls name so many people associate it with a girl.
But I have no room to talk either about unisex names. If we have a girl down the road, we will name her Ellis Olivia and Ellis is a traditional male name. If we have another boy, Avery and Emery are on our list and those can be viewed as female names.

I think of it as a girl's name.... but that's because we have our baby names picked out and it is the our #1 girl's name (Addison Faith and Carson David).
I do think that Grant Addison sounds great too! Go for it!
