what are you buying before shower, what are you waiting for?
just curious what people are planning on buying for the nursery/baby before your baby shower (if this is #1 for you) and what you plan on waiting until after the shower for.

I've bought all the nursery furniture and decorations. I also bought the mattress and bedding.
I really just want to go get everything but I know I need to wait and see what I get, it's just so hard.
I bought the crib, bedding, and some odds and ends that I wanted that I was concerned might be discontinued soon. Other things I'm also just buying over time here and there to space out the up-front baby costs over time.
I didn't put any big-ticket items on our registry because (a) we're not really getting any besides the crib and (b) it's just NMS.

we're waiting to really buy anything. we've got family members throwing down money for the crib, mattress, dressers and such so we're waiting for them to get together and get all that stuff.
but the good thing is that after the shower, all the stuff that wasn't given to us as gifts, we'll be able to get at a discount.
The Nutty Life
We are buying all the furniture, we plan on buying the car seat and stroller but I don't know if we will buy it before the shower or after. Diapers and stuff like that - again not sure if before or after the shower though - I am a procrastinator so some of this stuff will definately be after.
We have/are getting before the shower: Crib, changing table/dresser, bedding set and nursery decor.
I'm only having one shower and it's expected to be fairly large, but I'm prepared to purchase all the other big ticket items as well (like the travel system) if they aren't bought by my family who is notorious for buying outrageously generous gifts.
Overall though, I'm not expecting much for the shower, so anything that will be gifted is a big help.

I registered really to get a grip on what we needed. b/c we live so far from family and close friends I am not having a shower. Too much energy to travel and then how would I get it all home!
My MIL just bought the nursery furniture (crib, dresser, changing table), my mom told me to just buy the rest and she would pay for it. I plan to get the bedding, glider/ottoman, and mattress with that.
I bought a few outfits and will get some receiving blankets, onesies, and initial diapers (because I am still undecided to do TOTAL cloth or just cloth after the newborn stage) as well. The rest I will see if any of my family members/friends buy off the registry and if not I will just get a little each month.
We already had both car seats, high chair, and pack-n-play.
We have bought crib/mattress, changing table/dresser, my MIL has made all the curtains, crib skirt, Glider, Re-using my toy box, gifted to us a bassinet and swing, some clothes and diapers!
Anything else we are waiting til the shower!
We bought our dresser, stroller, all the nursery decor, curtains, etc.
My parents already bought us our car seat, changin table, crib, pack and play, and a lot of small odds and ends. Some of this will actually be given and or shown at the shower.
My Grandmother bought the armoire for the nursery, but she is putting together a ridiculously large tub full of bath stuff for the shower.
IL's bought our high chair.
So we really have nearly all of our big ticket items already.
We bought the Crib, Changer/Dresser, Armoire, Rocker, and Mattress...
We will wait to see what we're getting and then buy the rest.
We bought all the nursery furniture and bedding because we wanted to start getting things set up and they weren't from places where we registered.
I also bought a few things that were on black friday sales (video monitor, space saver high chair) and things from consignment sales (extra carseat base, miracle blankets, my brest friend, exersaucer, clothes in larger than newborn sizes).
I may not buy them before the shower, but afterwards I expect to buy my breastpump and stroller frame (not "fun" gifts to give, so I probably won't get them) and my diaper bag (kind of pricey and online only, and most of my guests will likely be in-store shoppers).
