Experience with Physicians and Midwives of NOVA?

Just curious as to how the schedule of appts goes (1st at 6 wks, then how often?) and what type of work up they do at the first appt (ultrasound?)

With all of my pregnancies, my first appointment was at 8 weeks. With my first, I did not have an ultrasound until my 20 week ultrasound. With subsequent pregnancies I had one early (6 weeks) since I have a history with miscarriages.

Appointments are every 4 weeks until 28 weeks, then biweekly until 36 weeks. You then go every week after that. I am pretty sure that is standard regardless of the practice.

At the first appoinment they will do weight, urine test, a pap (if it has been at least a year since your last), check the size of your uterus, and do bloodwork.

Ditto everything PP said. Note that they do not have ultrasound in-house, so your 20 week anatomy scan, and any others you need, will be done at a separate facility (they send us to Ultrasound Associates, right down the road in the Southern Towers complex).

Ditto everything the others have said. I've been almost 100% happy with the practice. I go to the Kingstowne office and have liked all but 1 of the providers I've seen there.

I also got pg directly following a m/c and they brought me in at 6 weeks for my 1st appointment and then ordered a dating u/s at 7 weeks (at Ultrasound Associates). The only midwife who can do u/s in the office is Gina, and I believe the equipment is at the Kenmore office only but could be wrong about that, but that is only for emergencies I think.
