Avocado, Peaches and Green beans

A few questions to those who make their own baby food.

I just cut open an avocado and it wasn't very soft on the inside. Wholesome baby food says it can be served right away but I couldn't mash it. I am pretty sure it was ripe..what is the deal?

How do you make your peaches? I am baking them right now, just curious. --And I forgot how good they are, it has been so long since I had one!

I have made green beans quite a few times but I can never get them or bananas to be the right texture, after they have been frozen, what are the tricks?!

 Thanks ladies!

Re: Avocado, Peaches and Green beans

  • If the avocado wasn't soft enough to mash then it wasn't ripe.

Never made peaches, but I would assume you can just puree them without doing anything.

I don't freeze banana, just mash it with a fork immediately before giving it to dd.

I puree green beans before freezing them and have never had an issue. There will be chunks so if your lo isn't ready for that then I would hold off for a few more weeks.

  • I just scoop the acacado out and smoosh it with a fork. I do the same with banana. I never freeze either of them.
I haven't made green beans yet but I have been making peas. I have the beba baby food maker and I just got frozen peas and have been steaming and pureeing each serving.

  • I find the avocados need to be a little overripe to smush properly. Peaches are ridiculously out of season in the Northeast, so I buy frozen, steam and pur?e. Green beans, I needed to add a lot of water and pur?e the heck out of the to get them to the right consistency.
