Postpartum Depression

Could I have PPD?

7 months after birth? Is it possible? I have very less patience as the days go by. Sometimes I feel so overwhelmed that all I want to do is take a long nap. On some days I have no energy for anything that I do not even feel like attending to DS. WDYT?

Re: Could I have PPD?

  • I just went in last week....it is entirely possible. My NP put me on Zoloft and Xanax. It really helped to be able to go in and spill everything out to someone who would listen.

  • I was just wondering this myself.  DS is 4 months and I am SOOOOO tired and cranky!  DH helps a little (and by a little I mean 30 minutes a day and never at night) but not enough.

I always thought PPD was something that happened close to birth; but I think it may take time to fester.  I am going to lurk to see if I need to get some help.

  • PPD can surely happen at 7 months.  It also doesn't help that its the middle of the winter and depending on where you live that could be affecting your mood.  It is affecting mine.  I joined the gym and getting a little time to myself is doing wonders for my patience with DS.  Call and schedule an appointment with your OB if its concerning to you.
  • I'm wondering the same exact thing.....I have had bouts of depression in the past, so I have always been concerned PPD might happen to me.  I am so extremely irritable and if when my husbands home from work I will sleep as long as I can, normally too long.  He just left for work for about 2 weeks, and so I am back to getting up in the morning....but still extrememly irratable and stressed.  For some reason I am afraid to call my doc, I don't know how to explain it and feel like they will brush me off?
