Stay at Home Moms

Double stroller?

hi everyone, just introducting myself.  i have a 20 month old daughter, a currently work full time.  we are expecting our second baby the end of August and then after maternity leave (we get 1year here in Canada) i plan to either stay home FT or go PT, depending on how we work things.

anyway, when Baby 2 is born, our daughter will be 26 months old-any double stroller recommendations?  i'm debating the need right away, or just wait and use our current stroller plus a Bjorn.  anyway, and recommendations or your experience with similar aged children would be appreciated.

 thanks

Mrs. O

Re: Double stroller?

  • I was kind of against getting one at first because I really like to carry the baby in a sling as a newborn up to about 6 months. Love my sling!! www.kangarookorner.com.

We have a double bike trailer that converts to a stroller that works great for around our neighborhood.

However, now that DD is 15 mos, she is SO on the move and I get really worried in public places trying to keep track of both of them since she moves so fast. I broke down and bought a double Maclaren umbrella stroller with fully reclining seats. It's very expensive brand new. I found my on Craigslist (do you have this or something like it?) for 1/4 the price. I love it and am so glad I gave in!!

    Good luck!

My beautiful girls: Hadley 9.28.06, Emmerson 11.29.08 and Pilar 2.07.11, born premature at 33.3 weeks.

  • My kids are 2 years and 2 weeks apart. DC1 is constantly on the go go go. I knew I would be buying a double BOB no matter what but also considered a double stroller for outings where the BOB would be difficult. I bought the Sit and Stand and LOVED it for the first few months. Inevitably the walk from the car to an indoor play place or store was not easy and I would end up LOVING, and using, the buckle portion of the Sit and Stand for DC1 while the infant carrier easily rested in the front end.

I found it nice to have somewhere to put both babes though I often wore the itty bitty and used a single stroller.

  • I don't have two yet, but have purchased a Bumbleride Indie Twin for long walks and trips out. I am planning on getting a double Maclaren as well for short trips and traveling.
  • #1 was 23 months when I had #2 and I thought that I would for sure just use a bjorn and regular stroller. That did not work for us at all. A 2 year old is very active and likes to run...fast. He doesn't always want to be in a stroller so if I ever let him out, it was way to difficult to deal with him and a baby in a bjorn. So we ended up getting a double stroller off craigslist. It's perfect. Its' a schwinn, not sure exactly what kind but it's perfect. My older son can sit without being strapped in and hold onto the bar up front. He seems to like that and stay there because he doesn't feel like he's in a stroller. The only complaint is that an infant car seat doesn't fit great so I have to take baby in and out of car seat to put in stroller. Still it's a great stroller and perfect for what we need it for which is walks to park and shopping. So glad I was able to find it on craiglist for only $125 in great condition.
