We just had their 9 month check up and everything looked great...but all of a sudden I am having a moment of paranoia reading these posts about crawlers and 7 month olds pulling up to standing (go babies) and here mine sit well enough (still topple on occassion), hate tummy time with a passion...and aren't pulling up on anything...anyone else??? I know babies develop on their own timeline...and I am not complaining too much...I love that I don't have to chase them down yet....
Re: anyone else's 9 month old not crawling???
I'm not quite there yet, but everything I've read and heard suggests that it's totally normal...and that some babies will easily skip crawling (babies spend less time on their tummies nowadays, and are slower to develop those skills, which aren't even necessary for overall development anyway).
I'm sure you're fine! But yeah, I have an 8 month old who has never rolled back to belly and it's easy to feel like your kid is the only one who isn't doing something...even if the pedi is ok with it.
Same here. Ava is the happiest laying on her back playing that way. She sits unassisted but would rather be laying down. Even if I roll her to her tummy, she rolls to her back in seconds. So forget tummy time. Lauryn on the other hand is making up for it. But she is not crawling either. Dont worry. I am sure they are doing wonderful.
Mine!
He'll rock on all fours and will occasionally pull himself forward on his tummy but that's it: no pulling up, no crawling. The only reason that I'm at peace w/this is that I've learned that you just can't compare babies so closely at this age b/c the other baby at M.'s sitter's is only 2 weeks older than he is, but has been crawling since November. November! His daycare buddy started pulling up and cruising a month later and is practically walking...and it's been that way with every. Single. Milestone.
So while it used to totally freak me out, it doesn't bother me nearly as much now...M. has just hit milestones later when you compare the two, but he's hitting them at about the right point, and that's the important part. (Am I a little jealous that his daycare buddy can clap? Yes. But I know M. will in time...his buddy is like my little window into the future b/c he does literally everything first! DH and I joke that the little dude will probably be ready for a driver's license before they're in kindergarten!)
