Cleaning rattles/soft toys

We have a box with a million rattles and soft little toys from DS. I'm trying to figure out how to clean them. Some have squeakers, crinkly stuff or bells...has anyone just thrown them in the washer and had them turn out ok? How else can you clean them?

When I worked at a daycare we would just stick them in the washing machine. You might want to throw them into a pillow case and tie off the ends to prevent them from getting completely beat up.

This! Also, run the washer on gentle cycle, and allow the pieces to air dry instead of putting them in the dryer. If you do use the dryer, again use a low and gentle setting. Check the pieces afterwards to make sure nothing has become loose or damaged.

I have put things in the pillowcase, but nothing with squeakers I don't think. Obviously don't do it if it has electronic stuff of any sort in its belly. But otherwise I think the washer would be fine!

I dont know for sure, but I would almost guess that you could just throw them in the dryer on high heat? Wouldn't the heat just kill all the germs/bacteria? Like I said, I'm really not sure, but it just seems to make sense to me.

I washed the plastic stuff in the dishwasher. The cloth stuff I wiped down with a soapy dishcloth because the directions on the tag specifically said not to put in the washer/dryer.
