if you had a six month old baby and ants in your house would you let off a fogger that wont stain, leaves no oily residue and no lingering odor and you would be gone for like six hours when the box says you'd only need to be gone for two and your grandma from next door would come over after two hours and open a few windows AND you would move all the babies things into his room and close the door because you've never seen ants in there???
tell me im overreacting. or that im totally justified and shouldnt do it.
Re: to bug bomb, or not to bug bomb...
I would not do it.
In the past I would bomb when I moved into a new place, and then here in the spring because we got crickets in the house during a certain season. But when I did it last spring the smell lingered for MORE THAN 24 HOURS even though I turned on the HVAC fan and opened windows/sliding glass doors etc. And I used half as much as I could have based on square footage/ceiling height. Personally I will never do it again.
Plus, for ants, they probably are not LIVING (the nest) in the house, just coming in so bombing isn't going to eradicate the problem, just get rid of the ones currently in the house. I'd get some of the traps that they take the poison back to their nest, or use ground cloves - they don't like to cross them (it doesn't kill them, just deter them).
Before our remodel, we had old windows and the ants would come from there. I would spray the heck out of the inside portion of the windows and the sills with white vinegar and that really helped curb the ant problem.
My mom makes little balls from Crisco, flour and boric acid and I think some spice... cinnamon? And leaves them out for the ants to eat to get rid of them.
I just found this site, some cool ideas: https://www.thefrugallife.com/ants.html
This. Cinnamon/cayenne/cloves/a number of things you can find in your kitchen (just google) can help deter them when sprinkled around the perimeter of the areas they usually are spotted, and the liquid ant bait is usually the best way to get rid of them long-term.
