my dr has said that it depends on the angle you look at the cervix, so they always went off the lowest measurement to be safe.
Same with me, now that I am further along, they won't do the trans on me in fear they may disturb things and have been using abdominal, but I started to dialate at 22 weeks, and have less than .5 cervix left. ( crossing everything I have to make it to 37 weeks)

do you have a cerclage or on bed rest? you've made it really far....you are my inspiration! I'm at 20 weeks with 15mms and an emergency cerclage.
I have the same thing. The u/s tech said my cervix looked okay until he pushed on my stomach and then it would shrink down to around 2. He told me not to put too much weight or pressure on my stomach and to use my ab muscles as little as possible.
mine is short but doesn't change when they push on my tummy. my peri practice stops measuring at 32 weeks so i didn't get measured today. my cervix had been consistently shortening by about .2 each week so i'm guessing i'm at about 1.4 by now.
Mine has done the same in ultrasounds. My OB basically said he goes by the shortest. Sometimes I go in and it's just plain short, and sometimes it fluctuates. Totally annoying because I wish it would be just plain long and stay there.

I have been on modified bedrest at 15 weeks an then at 22 weeks when I started to dilate I was on hospital bedrest until 30 weeks. I have had 2 sets of steroids one at 24 weeks and then another round at 28 weeks.
Here is to hoping that we all get our healthy and happy babies and our cervix holds until full term.
Re: Dynamic Cervix
^ same! Also it can vary based on abdominal or trans vaginal u/s! My dr only uses tvu's to stay consistent!
