2nd Trimester

Exercise? XP

XP from 3rd tri

I'm almost at the end of 2nd trimester and realizing that I would like to do some physical activity now so that I have a little more energy during labor this time around.

Did any of you start exercising later in pregnancy?  If so, what would you recommend as a safe place to start?  I do not have access to a pool, and it is still too freaking cold/dark outside to walk.  So, I'm thinking DVDs or we have a weight machine...just not sure what is best.

Thanks :)

My doctor does not recommend drastically changing your work out routine mid pregnancy.

I would maybe do some walking but not too much more since it sounds like you haven't been doing strenuous exercise during your entire pregnancy.

This. I was on a good routine before pregnancy (weight, cardio and occasional yoga). But then I did NOTHING during my first trimester because I was so wiped out all the time. Since my energy has picked up in my 2nd trimester, I started doing yoga using DVDs (first it was a quick 15 mins, then I extended it to 30, then 45, and now I can do 75 mins on the weekends when I have more time).

  • Prenatal Yoga can be really good for you and the baby. Its so relaxing. I would recommend you start a aerobic work our routine at this time in our pregnancy unless your doctor gives you the green light.
  • I do Prenatal Yoga and basis steps.
