I'm half pissed and half scared out of my mind. Our bedroom window and one of DD's bedroom windows faces the backyard. We have an ally behind our house, a privacy screen (wooden thinger w/ ivy and plants...but it's winter now) blocking a house. There's also a security light. There are kids living in the house.
A few days ago, I moved the shade and looked out. I have no idea why I did this; it was totally random. Anyways, I saw footprints coming up to the back of our house (toward our windows). The prints didn't comeall the way up to them, but they were about 5 feet out. I called DH to look at them. He said it was probably nothing (he's that kind of guy). I asked him, "If you looked out there and saw a grown man standing there, you'd think that was OK?" Needless to say, he went out to look at the prints. He came back saying that they were big (he first thought maybe a kid came to get a ball out of our yard or something). He didn't know what to think about it other than it was one set of prints...not a lot. Sidenote: it's not the meter reader's. Our meter is on the other side of the house, and they don't even get out of the truck to read the meters anymore.
Needless to say, I've been checking out there off and on. The snow is melting a bit, but you can see the old prints.
I just got up to pump (I got REALLY off schedule yesterday and am about to explode). For some reason, I looked out the window again. MORE MOTHER EFFING FOOTPRINTS.
I'm calling the police tomorrow morning as soon as I get up (5am to be exact). Our neighbor is going thru the police academy right now, and I'm calling him too. I really don't think you can even see in those windows at all (we have pull-down shades and curtains), but I'm freaking. DD isn't going back to her crib anytime soon.
Re: I'm about to go BSC
That would scare the crap out of me, I totally agree with your decision about your daughter and the crib. I can't believe your DH was so nonchalant about it! My DH would be standing guard with one of his swords. (he collects them, just so people understand that comment...)
I hope you get peace of mind from the police, the police up here would shrug it off and say they can't do anything unless something actually happens.
Good luck and be strong!
OMG I can only imagine how terrified you are right now. This is one of my worst fears realized, probably a worst fear for any new mom.
I am glad you have a neighbor going through police academy, this would be very comforting. Sounds like motion detector lights on that side of the house would be a good idea right about now.
And maybe a pitbull in the backyard.
T&P
You can never be too careful. There is no reason for someone to be in your yard.
Ive delt with peeping toms before, its incredibly frightening to me. We had one at our old place. One time I had forgotten to close the bathroom curtain and he was standing there after I got out of the shower. Thank god SO was home that night. It still gives me the creeps to think about it.
That IS creepy. I hope you figure out what's going on soon and get some peace of mind.
Is your house 2 stories?
That is so freaky... chills!!!!!!!!
