Ugh I'm so annoyed with my DH right now. First of all, he's not handy, and rarely does he do any handy man stuff around the house. I've known this forever about him, so it usually doesn't bother me, but what does piss me off is when he tries to do something himself, puts in a half-ass effort (think like 10 minutes of trying) and then throws his hands up in the air, says there is no way he's going to be able to do it, and I need to "help him" - IE do it for him. I would be totally down with helping him if he actually wanted help, but what he wants is to just not deal with it anymore at all and have me figure it out for him. I really hate it!
Anyhoo, he tried to install the carseat today, and then proceeded to tell me it's too loose. "he tried everything he could think of" so now I need to help him. (by the way, he wasn't just asking for my help - he was informing me in a very loud tone that if this is going to get done, it's up to me, and if I don't figure it out, I guess LO won't have a ride home from the hospital) Yeah, so I'm going to haul my 8 months pregnant belly out to the car and lean over and tighten the dang thing when he couldn't even do it.
I guess my question is, if I take it to one of those car seat safety checks at the fire station or whatever, will they just tell me if it fails, or will they actually help install it?
Re: DH is freaking out about the damn carseat (vent)
They will help you install it.
The trick is to have your DH put his knee on the seat and put all of his weight on it.... While doing that tighten the seatbelt. When he lets go with his knee, it'll be super tight.
I dont think all firestations do it, but you can find an inspection station here
