All of the sudden my tummy felt off and I vomitted. I feel ok for right now. I had just BF'ed prior to vomitting. Is it still ok to BF my child? If not, do I pump and dump?
Not only can you nurse... it's BETTER to nurse!! Your milk has specific antibodies to fight whatever is making you ill- if you nurse your baby- you will help them fight off the bug... if you take away the breastmilk- you are still exposing them to your germs (unless you bathe them in bleach and put them in a plastic bubble) but you'll deprive them of the stronger adult immune defense built into your breastmilk that a newborn body does not have. Antibodies are not just generic germ fighters- they are made by your body on the spot to fight specific germs... so not just any breastmilk (like what you pumped last month that's in the freezer) but today's breastmilk- from when you are sick- is what they need!
