WDYT? DH likes it for a boy's name, I like it for a girl's name.
I don't like the nickname Em .... any other suggestions?
Emerson I think girl. Emery I think boy.
CCinLove:Neither, it's a last name to me. I don't like most names that end in "son" for girls. Many literally translate to "son of ________."
Exactly. I have no idea why that would make a good name for a girl.
Boy
IMO: Anything ending in -son = boy name. (I know, I know. Addison and Madison end in -son).
I'm totally with you, however I know more girls than boys named Emerson.
No one's name!
But if you must--it's a boy's name.
I like it as a girls name - but I like non-girly names for girls... Elliot, Reece, Taylor, etc
I think girl.
*Scuzzlebutt*:It ends in -son, so I say it's a boy's name. It makes me think of Ralph Waldo Emerson.
This.
I think of it as a boys name...
I like it and would use it for a girl and call her Emme (em-e). I love formal names with cutesy nicknames for little girls.
Here is a chart to show yout DH that it is more commonly used as a girls name.
