Crib question

We were at a baby store and saw not drop side cribs but cribs that had a small hinged gate - the lady at the store said they were the replacement of dropside cribs and were safe but I haven't been able to find any safety reviews on them - does anyone know what I am talking about and if they are safe?  (short lady here - if they are safe they will make it easier for me to get the baby in and out of the crib)

Re: Crib question

  • The hinged cribs are not really that safe.  Babies have been known to unlatch the hinge and fall out.  My niece does this.

  • I would just go with a fixed side.

  • Depends on the company. Baby's Dream has been making this style for a while (before the drop side recall stuff) and Baby Bargains said they improved their design to make the drop gate safer (no escaping babies). Other brands may not have done this.
