My Ob has always told me to wait until the PP check before doing any workout more strenuous than walking. (2 vaginal and 1 c/s) You have to remember that your uterus is still healing and so are your joints. Also the site where the placenta was attached is still healing.
I would say if you are determined to take things slowly and really listen to your body.

I waited until my six week pp appt. The dr told me at that time that I was cleared for exercise (and sex). I walked some before that, but didn't do anything too jostling prior to 6 weeks. I had a vag birth as well.
Good for you that you want to get bacm to situps! But, I would check to see if you have diastasis recti first before doing too much ab work. You can google it and see why sit ups might mot be the best way to start out. I started running and working out too soon after baby and I really regretted it. I was sore and run down for a whole week!
You can also look into a Stroller Strides class near you. The instructors are moms that specialize in postpartum fitness so they can give you more pointers than regular aerobics instructors.
Re: Exercise
I started walking and doing sit ups, squats and weights at about a week and a half, also vag birth. You will know when you feel ready!
