Avent bottle users, come in!

Hey ladies, I received some Avent bottles as gifts and I was wondering what you think about them.  I noticed some are clear and some are honey-colored.  The only difference I can see is the price!  We're planning on giving them a shot when LO is born (I'm 39 weeks), and if we like them, buying more.  So I think my question is, are the honey ones worth the extra money?  Are they better?  Any advice, good or bad, is welcome.

Thanks mamas!

  • Forgot to add that there seem to be a lot of negative reviews about how they leak...any info on that is great too.  Thanks.

  • I have some of both, honey color and clear. I think the honey ones are the BPA free, if I am not mistaken. I love our Avent bottles. One tip when you use them is to line the nipples up with the "connecting" white piece, for lack of better terms :), on the underside. You will see some little grooves on the nipple and if you line those up in between the grooves on the connecting ring, then you won't have any leaks. That make not make ANY sense but if you google Avent and leaking, you will find some diagrams that show you what I am talking about. Good luck!
  • The honey colored ones are worth the extra price to me, the other ones have an extra part that you have to use under the nipple. We have 1 of those and about 6 of the honey colored ones. If you forget to put the part in, milk goes everywhere! My DH even put it away in the closet after he forgot to put in that part! He was over it!

::knocks on wood:: we have not had issues with leaking, it is all how you put screw the top on.

    just my thoughts.....

This! I love our Avent bottles. They're easy to use and clean

  • We used them with our first baby.  We never had any problems with ours leaking, but I babysat a friend's baby and theirs leaked all the time.I think it was user error because when I took the bottle apart and put it back together it didn't leak.  I've never seen the honey colored ones, so no advice there.

  • worse bottles ever. I received them as a gift as well and hated them. They leak constantly.
  • Yes, they will leak if you dont know how to put it together properly.

I love the avent. I have both honey colored and clear and they work the same for me. The clear have the extra peice that you have to deal with but for the most part, they work great. My DD rejected the Dr Browns (expensive bottles) and LOVES these!

  • i have both the honey and the clear ones - the clear ones have the extra ring PP noted - i feel like that ensures that they dont leak. I never looked at the nipple and ring line up of the honey colored ones so maybe that's why they leaked sometimes...  also the clear ones (with the extra ring) seem to not make DS as gassy...

    overall, i like them!

  • I have both kinds, and don't have a preference. Both are BPA free. Never had any leaking.
  • We have the clear ones with the extra ring.  Love them!  We haven't had any leaks.
