baby shoes for outside

DD has only had soft-soled Robeez so far. We're going to Florida this week and she will be walking outside for the first time. I'm figuring she needs harder soles? Any recommendations for good baby sandals that won't cost $40/pair?

Re: baby shoes for outside

  • When my DS first started walking, I went to a couple of shoe stores and tried to bend the soles on just about every shoe available.  You wouldn't believe how hard and infelxible some of the soles are.  DS couldn't walk in anything that wouldn't bend.  (he can now, but he couldn't at first)

I ended up with a pair of Nike tennis shoes.  They were close to $30, but he wore them every day.

  • Okay, I'll just have to try them. Maybe I'll go to Stride-Rite and if I have to pay a lot so be it, if she can wear them awhile. I want a sole that's flexible, but safe for walking outside on pavement/little stones.

  • My DD walked outside all last summer in Robeez, and it was fine.

  • Personally, I think it's nuts to spend 30, 40 bucks on a pair of shoes for a toddler.  They will be worn for a few months and that's it.  Cheap shoes are going to be fine.  As long as they fit, it'll be ok.  Try places like payless, kmart, etc.  Stride Rite is sooooo expensive, and honestly, the more expensive shoes are not going to make a bit of difference.
  • check out babyhalfoff.com right now.  They have a pair of sandals today.  I got them for my daughter.  She loves squeaky shoes but you can always remove the squeaker if they annoy you.
