I am guessing 1996 only because Kiss from a Rose was huge in the Winterguard circut and I heard You Oughta Know for the first time on the way to a competition...
Im a band geek myself, but my best friends were on guard.
Band geek here too...but our WG was made mostly up of band geeks! I was REALLY bad but it was so much fun!
Haha, thats how DH and I met. He was my Drum Major instructor my
senior year BUT we didnt start dating until 4 years later haha. He
actually got his degree in music ed. What did you play? I was a flute
player. And Im just gonna say it before someone else..."This one time,
at band camp..." hehe.
I am a flute/saxophone player and also have a degree in music ed! I teach instrumental music. I love it! I never thought I would marry a guy who dropped out of band in 8th grade...
Yeah DH was SURE he was gonna marry another Music Ed person... THAT didnt happen haha. But he doesnt teach anymore:( he decide he liked flying more than music I guess... He used to work with the North Lincoln High School band in NC as well as East Lincoln. He misses it though. Keeps trying to get with a school in the area to help, but no dice... Hes a great trumpet player though. I wish I still played, but in all honesty I was just much better at conducting and percussion than I was the flute.
Did you go to school in NC? I went to HS in Elizabeth City. I *think* I have heard of those two schools but there was also a Lincoln HS in Tallahasse (FL) where I went to college, so I might be mixing them up.
I did go to school in NC. Actually DH graduated from UNC Charlotte. There is also a Lincolnton HS in NC as well. But if you were big in the band world in NC you may have heard of them. (not that they were like the absolute best or anything, though they were good), but they go to just about every marching band comp available to go to in NC every year. Ever hear of the Western Carolina Reg. Comp?

Are you a Nole? One of my friends was in the FSU band.
Yep! And I too was in the band. What section? When did they graduate?

I have not heard of it. My school was military style, so we didn't do any competitions. Always fun though!

2001 - but we used to have a fifth year of high school in Ontario (for university bound students), so for the purpose of this poll I suppose I should say 2000.
Re: Out of curiosity: What year did you graduate high school?
I'm so lost right now

I thought there would be more early-to-mid90s girls here. 1994.
My husband graduated in '89, and there was a woman at his 20yr HS reunion who was about to be a GRANDMA. We are waaaaaay behind!
Yep! And I too was in the band. What section? When did they graduate?
I should have been gone long ago. I'm staying right here dammit. See if you can make me leave!

Thank God! So we're officially tied for oldest
Yep, me too.
Shouldn't you be on the TTTC board?
Why? She is TTGP.
I feel that she is inferring if you are over 35 that you do not belong here. So, by that logic, everyone should stay in their own "buckets."
Who?
Happy Birthday!
Your birthday is on Sunday? That's mine too!
I graduated high school in 2002.
I graduated in 2003 (Class of oh-three) and DH graduated in 1999
Happy early birthday to you too dear!
HU???? I think if you are ttgp, then regardless of your age, this is the "bucket" you belong to.
So Theld!, what exactly are the demographics of the people who belong in this "bucket"?
Please impart your wisdom on us.
Personally, I agree. But I feel like a lot of people on this board want you to post in specific buckets, ie, TTGP after 35, TTTC, IF, whatever.
Thanks!
Me too.
I don't think there are many people on this board who feel that way. And I say that after posting here for over a year.
Me.. 1994.. I will be 34 in Nov
Dh...1995 He will be 33 in a few weeks
Class of Double-Oh-Seven...
Did you guys have "James Bond" or "Casino Night" themed prom, too?
