Anyone else feel like an old woman?

I don't know if I should chalk it up to motherhood or if it is something to be concerned about, but I just feel so sore and creaky all the time. Every time I get up I can't straighten out right away; I'm stiff and sore. Every morning when I wake up my feet are swollen and puffy and it's hard to walk. My wrist hurts, my hip hurts, my knee hurts, I feel like I'm 70!

Seriously, does anybody else feel like this happened to them after baby came?

Re: Anyone else feel like an old woman?

  • Yes I feel old all the time now. But I guess I am compaired to most since I am 36. And I have a lot of gray hair.

  • I was like that the first year after having Cruz!!  My dr said it was my joints coming back together and that it could take a good year before I felt normal again.  It does finally go away but my dr put me on some anti-inflammitories that really helped when I was super sore!

  • I remember feeling that way, it did get better.  Although now it's back since getting pregnant again.

By the way, love your new siggy, very sweet picture!

  • Yep, I feel that way too.  Plus I like to go to bed at 9pm.  Yeah I said it 9pm actually last night I went to bed at 8:30.....LOL
  • You aren't alone.  I'm scared of trying to run because I'm worried something else will start hurting..

My lower back and my shoulder feel hurt right now and my knees just ache...

  • Yes! I actually had to have physical therapy (about 3 months) because childbirth did a number on me. I remember I was sore all the time, I couldn't hold my kiddo for more than five minutes. My phsyical therapist says it's fairly common, and he had one gal come in in a wheel chair, as in childbirth put her there). It's crazy, but yeah...PT has helped me immensely and my circulation, bones and muscles are doing great now. I hope you feel better!

  • My body almost feels worse now than while I was pregnant. Nice to know its not just me with tons of aches and pains.

  • talk to your doc about it.  Autoimmune diseases can cause that kind of stiffness and often crop up in your 30s.... plus, I think with all of the wackadoo stuff that happens during pregnancy, sometimes your hormones can trigger things.

that said, yes I feel all creaky and old.  but I am old.  :)

  • Yes!!! I am glad someone else said this because I have been wondering the same thing lately. My wrists are always in so much pain and it feels like they pop a lot. My back hurts so much all the time, my hands are always swollen in the morning and my hips are horrible too! And I know I am not old, I just turned 26.
  • I too cannot straighten all the way up after sitting on the floor.  I have to walk hunched over like a little lady until I can straighten.  I swear, walking up the stairs carrying R makes me tired too.  (yet I  do 50 minutes of cardio at the gym no problem... go figure)

I too am old though.  :)  We were at Jup Planet monday night with my 17 year old brother.  He was chasing A around and I had R in the Bjorn. A lady asked me how many years difference was between them.  Meaning A and my brother!  I guess I am old enough to be his Mom, since my mom was younger than I am now when I was his age, but still!

  • I have had tendonitis in my right hip since college, so I am gimpy at times. I HATE it. I am like a little old lady who lives in a shoe full of Gymboree clothing.

  • Good old relaxin - makes it so you can give birth but it affects all your joints. I highly recommend pt after baby, especially a pelvic rehab.
