Who posted about the Blue Cross pregnancy program?

A few months ago someone mentioned that they were able to sign up with BCBS to receive special pregnancy related information and that they got the book "pregnancy week by week" for participating in the prenatal program.  Does anyone know what this program is called and how you sign up for it?

Thanks!

Re: Who posted about the Blue Cross pregnancy program?

  • I'm with Empire NY Blue Cross. When I called to let them know I was pg and to provide my EDD for last 2 pgs/losses, they automatically enrolled me in the program and sent documents (and very sensitively stopped without any follow up from me after each loss).

  • I'm in that program and got the book. I got a postcard in the mail that was sent to all women of typical childbearing years saying to call a number when you find out and they will enroll you.  You get a 24 hour maternity nurse line to call also.  I have a magnet with the number on my fridge... The number it lists is 1-800-828-5891.  Give it a try.  Not sure if we have the same exact BCBS coverage, but it's worth a shot.

  • Interesting! I'll have to look into this. Thanks:-)
  • I believe its called Special Beginnings
  • It may have been me. So far they have not done much but send me the book. Apparently at 32 weeks they start interacting more with samples and information. They also pay for your prenatal vitamins.
  • They pay for your prenatal vitamins?!  I have the book and spent 30 min. inital call with them on the phone, but I may need to call them about paying for vitamins!

I found out about it when I r'vd a postcard in the mail.
