  • I think the show is hillarious, especially the ones where the lady surprising has 1 baby, and then the doctor tells her she isn't done yes and she ends up with twins.

I've never had contractions, so I have no idea what the feels like, but I have had an ovarian cyst rupture, and that was bad enough that I had my DH take me to the hosptial, fairly quickly.  I didn't just sit around and wait to see if the exrutiating pain would go away.

That being said, I actually do know someone that went to the ER for kidney stones and came out with a baby.

  • wow!  that's pretty impressive, too.

i do know that not everyone's body shows things the same, and weird things happen, but the number of women who are going to have to tell their kid that they got pooped into the world is staggering.

  • This is the 2nd time I've been pregnant and let me tell you there is no way that I wouldn't know that *something* wasn't up.  Now I know some women sail through the 1st tri.  But even later, I felt so enormous.  And the kicking - how can you possibly ignore that?

  • This show always makes me wonder. Some of these girls drink and smoke and dont take their prenatal vitamins. and live their life unaware and end up having healthy babies. Like WTF! I cut out all the junk food, and freak out if I don't take my prenatal vitamins at the same time everyday.. thinking that the baby will miss it.

Because the kicking feels like gas, DUH.  Confused

  • Although I am guilty of being addicted to watching this show, I'm with you girls. I can't imagine not knowing you're pregnant. These girls have to be in complete denial. My favorite was the girl in Great Britain that drank, smoked, and partied, throughout the entire pregnancy and her child turned out completely normal. That just makes me angry because there are people that are completely aware of their pregnancy and take every possible precaution and end up with complications.

  • LMAO. I've called it pooping a baby too and everyone gave me the side eye.

"How can you poop a baby?"

I then had to explain that most of the time these women give birth on a toilet thinking they had to poo.

  • Really?  Because I have been in labor before, I didn't confuse it with having to poo AT ALL.

I haven't seen this show...sounds like I need to check it out!

  • If you have comcast you can watch it on demand if not it airs on Discovery health and TLC all the time.

  • yeah, it IS frustrating--frustrating when you're TTC, frustrating when you're expecting and hoping for a healthy baby...and all those stories end with a mom and a healthy kid!

    Go figure.

I've only seen a couple episodes but that was exactly what I was thinking.

This is my first pregnancy so I don't know what it feels like when the baby kicks but I just can't believe they don't feel anything or think it's gas.

  • I don't understand how they can confuse their anus with their vagina. Probably happens to them a lot though....Surprise

Ugh, that one pissed me off. But the thing is, a lot of developmental problems that would be caused by drinking and smoking wouldn't necessarily show up at birth. I have to think that later on that child will show some sort of delays. Also, I think it portrays a bad message to show that girl partying it up and then "oh everything is fine."

  • a very close friend of mine who I also worked with had this happen to her. She was on the depo shot and wasn't getting her period, one day she was sitting on the couch with her DH and felt "gas bubbles" she had the feeling something wasn't right and took a pregnancy test and it was positive. She made an appointment at her gynos and found out she was 8 months along! I saw her EVERYDAY she did not look pregnant or anything. I am not talking about a college freshman dummy like most the girls on the show, she is a college grad, very intelligent woman. I used to think that show was BS until it happened to someone close to me.lol..

ps. She had a perfectly healthy baby boy Smile

  • Wow! That is just the craziest thing ever. It kills me though.... how someone can be so UNAWARE of what is going on with their body.
  • I know everybody is different but I am soooo sick this first tri that if I didnt know I was pregnant I would seriously be concerned I was dying or something!  I certainly would have gone to the doc by now!
