So DH and I had a girl name picked out right from the start, but we've decided not to tell anyone our names (we got some skepticism about names right off the bat, so we're keeping them to ourselves now!)... We're trying to find a boy name.. Let me know what you think! I'm Indian and he is from Ohio so we had to find a name that both families would be able to pronounce!
Girl: Arya Lakshmi H____________
(Arya has pretty deep meaning for us, and Lakshmi is the name of my late grandmother)
Boy: Sid (short for Siddharth)
Krish (Short for Krishnan- my grandpa's name)
Jai or Jay
Karan (DH likes this name but I'm not too fond of it)
Or some combination of the above... Also, DH's dad's name is Joel, so I wanted to try and incorporate that into the MN somehow..
Our last name starts with an H and is really long, so we wanted a short first name/ nickname to go along with it. Any suggestions if you don't like any of the above?
Re: WDYT of these names?
Arya Lakshmi is a BEAUTIFUL name! I love Indian names.
I like Krishnan Joel for the boy's name. People will probably call him "Kris" though.
Good luck!
I think your girl name is very pretty. I like DH's choice.
My cousin married into an Indian family and named their son Rohan. Dad's name is Ajay. So those could be other options
I also like Krishnan Joel for a boy.
You know I love Arya Lakshmi. It would work with your last name too.
I like Krish or Jai for a boy.
Krishnan Joel H sounds good. Jai Joel might be too much alliteration.
Karan will forever be Karen to anyone not Indian. My cousin's name is Karan (I picked it after Karan Johar) and all his friends that aren't Indian say Karen.
It's not Kieran. It's Karan. It's prounouced differently.
Kieran is Keer-ahn
Karan is Kar-ahn (and roll your Rs)
I hear you on the ethnic thing. I'm Malaysian-Chinese and my DH is Irish/German, so any Chinese name we pick has to be pronouncable by his family.
I love your LO girl name, it's pretty.
I like Siddharth and Krishnan... classic Indian names, IMHO!

Thanks, I wasn't going to say anything but there is a distinct difference
Thanks for all the feedback! We got a lot of negative opinions about using Arya- a lot of people were confused b/c they think of Aryan (blonde and blue eyed), even though Arya is a really strong Sanskrit name.
