I'm going to ask my OB about it on Monday, but has anyone heard this? I went to the eye doctor today to get my yearly exam and get fitted for new contacts and glasses. My eye doc said when I go in to labor, he doesn't want me wearing my contacts while I'm laboring/for delivery. Am I missing something?
Re: No contacts during labor?
I wore mine. no one asked. I plan on doing the same this time.
A friend of mine pushed so hard that one of her contacts popped out. Maybe that's why they reccommend you don't wear them... just a thought.
i'm sorry for your friend, i hope she found her contact, but this seriously made me lol.
I wore mine during L&D.
Actually, I went in the night before in my glasses, slept (well tried to sleep), and then in the morning put my contacts in and pushed her out. No one told me I couldn't.
I would call and clarify with your eye doc.... maybe he has some special reason?
Anyhow, I had mine in last time and wore them while I had my c-section which was on the emergency side - I was knocked out under general anethesia, but it sure wasn't planned. No one said anything and I didn't have any problems for what it's worth.
