low fever from shots- should we still go out to eat?

Steven just woke up from a nap, acting fine but he's got about a 99.1 temp (that's the highest I could get on his head).  He got 3 shots this morning.  We have plans to go out to eat with my in laws, but should I still take him?

Re: low fever from shots- should we still go out to eat?

  • Has he usually had a fever after shots?  DS hasn't, so I wouldn't take him out on the off chance that it's a bug.  If he seems to be feeling fine and the fever is normal for him after shots, then sure, I'd go eat up!

He doesn't everytime, but he definitely has before.

  • I'd go. Even with the degree added (since it wasn't rectal), 100.1 isn't technically considered a fever.

You don't add or subtract anything with a temporal scanner.

  • I would go! I wouldn't consider that a fever.

    This.

  • No worries, just maybe give him tylenol.  I bet he is fine.  99.1 can be just from moving too fast.
  • I'd go as long as he's feeling up to it. Would you have known he even had a slightly higher temp if you hadn't measured it? If not, then he's probably fine.

Please consider NOT giving Tylenol. An elevated temp (not fever) is part of the process and giving Tylenol is starting to show up in a negative light in immunity research. They're finding that premedicated kids aren't building the protection they should following shots. And what's the point of subjecting our kids to the shots if they don't work right?! Remember that temperature is a catalyst. You get a fever when you're sick because that's your body's way of making so many white blood cells so fast. Same goes for vaccinations.

Gotcha - we don't own one, so I didn't know. Smile

I LOVE our temporal scanner.  It's definitely worth it, imo.  I can get a good temp in less than 5 seconds and I don't get pooped on.  :)

I feel the same way.  His fever stayed pretty low and I didn't give him anything, with the thinking that the fever was his way of processing the vaccines. Thanks for reinforcing my thoughts!
