Registry Complaint (Not what you are thinking)

A friend from HS is due to have a little girl 3 days after me.  I was invited to her shower.  She came to visit me at work today and it reminded me I should buy her gift before all the good stuff is gone.  I want to be a "good girl" and buy off the registry.  Get her something she wants/needs vs. the the 10th unpractical, frilly dress.  But I don't like registry's.  The stuff is practical and boring.  I want to buy something fun!

***stomping back to her registry, to buy something off the list and be a "good girl".  :( ***

Re: Registry Complaint (Not what you are thinking)

  • Good girl. You can add a little "extra" to the gift so you can enjoy shopping, too, but good for you for making the bulk of the gift things that your friend needs.

  • Just put the boring stuff in a really cute diaper bag or purse and that way its the best of both worlds.

  • Why not get her something practical and something fun?  I had a few people do this at my shower and I really appreciated both!

  • That's the problem with a registry. Most of the stuff we NEED isn't 'cute'  Believe me, I'd LOVE to get the bottle set I registered for, before the pink wall hangings - but I know people WANT to buy the cute things.

I was tempted to register for giant stuffed animals, just so I could return them later for store credit and make everyone's lives easier to get something 'fun'

  • I will buy something off the registry but then I am thinking get a cute outfit that matches something my little girl has???  So our little girls can be matchy, matchy best friends...HaHa.  I think she would like that.  We have never been bff but I think considering we are both having girls days apart, we will get closer.

Here I am complaining about having to buy something practical but this is what I want people to buy me for my shower.

  • Are you crafty?  I got a lot of hand made things at my shower last weekend (I have super talented friends).  I didn't mind not getting as much off my registry because the hand made things are beautiful and irreplacable :)
  • my favorite gifts were the ones where they got something off the registry and picked something out themselves.  i like your bff idea!

    Thanks.

  • My bestie (Bumpie Elmoali)  and I agreed that since we are due within a couple weeks of each other that we wouldn't purchase off each others registries....cause it was kinda like buying a big thing for ourselves and just swapping out.  So I spent months looking for the perfect gift and finally found a guy that makes custom toyboxes.  I waited until Ali got her bedding and sent pics to the guy and arranged to have the toy box carved with her LO's name.  Anyway, the guy's wife had thier baby like 9 weeks early and postponed all order until way after I would need it for her shower.  I was bummed, so I ended up having to purchase off her registry.  I ended up getting the swing, but its not as fun or thoughful as the other gift and to top it off she bought me the best bookshelf for Asher that matches his nursery...its one of my fav gifts and all I'm giving her is a boring swing anyone could have gotten off the registry.  I know she really WANTED the swing which is why I got it.  But I was hoping to get something more personal for the future nephew!
