Babies: 0 - 3 Months

2nd and 3rd time moms (or more)

Did your DS or DD start acting up before LO even arrived. My DS has just been having a really hard time lately, like he knows somehow that it is getting close. I mean we talk about it, but I make sure that he is included in everything. Him and I are making a big brother crown and we have put some of his books and toys into the nursery as well as pictures of him with me and DH. Do you think they have this keen sense that the big change is coming soon???

  • no my oldest didnt act out right before the baby came, however she also had no clue what was going on. they are only 21 months apart. That being said, now she acts out more, she has taken to hitting people, and throwing temper tantrums.

  • My DD took it suprisingly well... better than I imagined.  I would say just keep him included in everything, and he will be really excited once the LO is here.  At his age, he will be able to "help" with things, and it will make him feel good.  Good luck!
  • My older two didn't act out prior to giving birth.  We kept them very involved the entire pregnancy...they even came to my sonogram at 18 weeks to see the baby and find out what we were having.  We talked a lot about the baby and they helped set up baby stuff.  Both boys did great when I went to the hospital and they have been great since.  Of course we're dealing with normal 3 and 5 yo stuff, but nothing I would think was a direct result of another baby being born.

  • WHEN I WAS ABOUT TO HAVE MY 2ND MY 1ST ONE DID START ACTING UP. HE WAS 3 AT THE TIME & DEFINITELY KNEW SOMETHING WAS ABOUT TO HAPPEN. A WEEK OR 2 AFTER DD WAS BORN, THINGS SETTLED DOWN.
  • My son was very prepared for baby that being said the 2 days before the baby came my son was out of control. He just had alot of changes going on. My mom and dad were here so he knew something was happening. The day I had the baby there was alot going on.I told him ahead of time that Grandma and Grandpa would watch him but he was extremely hyper. Then when the baby was born the day he was coming to the hospital he was very cranky and irritable. And even the next day when I was still in the hosptial my hubby was telling me he was having a hard time with him. But I would say once I got home got them both into a routine he seemed to settle down its an adjustment for everyone. Just keep talking to him and doing special things it really helps.
