3rd Trimester

had a prenatal massage yesterday ...

and I'm SO SORE today!!! I don't usually like massages (even with a light touch) but I had a gift card, so I went. I wasn't hurting yesterday, but I am today! Any suggestion for relief? It's mostly my neck/shoulders.

  • Tylenol and a warm bath. Make sure you take the tylenol first!

  • If you are sore from a massage then avoid heat.  Use ice.  You probably have a little swelling and heat will make it worse

  • Also, drink a lot of water (as if we don't hear this enough during pregnancy). Often, your muscles will get sore because toxins stored in your body are released through massage. They need to be flushed out of your system.

  • Oh no!  I'm getting one next Thursday & now I'm a little nervous!!  DH got it for me for v-day because of my back pain (it's been really bad, almost unbearable).  I really hope the massage doesn't make it worse Indifferent

    Interesting! Thanks!

  • Wow, that's not really supposed to happen w/a PN massage.  If the person was specifically trained in PN massage.  I have had two in the last month, and was never sore....that said, if you didn't drink A LOT of water after your session, that could have contributed to the soreness w/o it being the fault of the practitioner.  I agree w/pp, warm bath and lots of fluids.
