I love picking out names and always have. DH, on the other hand, doesn't want to discuss it much. We have been TTC for 6 cycles and I am on the search. I will show DH my list once we get pg.
Married 5/31/08 * TTC#1 9/09 - 2/11 after anovulatory diagnosis and TTC for 1 1/2yrs with several medicated cycles and one chemical pregnancy, we have our first bundle of joy!
IT'S A GIRL!
#2 EDD 2/5/13 dx with anti-BIG E antibody, seeing a MFM
I don't take one single minute for granted.
On one of our first dates we got to talking about names for some reason. We both commented on how much we loved the name Olivia.
We always knew if we had a little girl - that would be her name. Our little Olivia Grace arrived almost 10 years later.
This is the name that I LOVE! It's weird... about a week before my due date (I lost my baby) a baby started appearing in my dream... Her name was Olivia Grace. Never heard of this name before my dream and now I absolutely LOVE IT!!

We thought about baby names a few years into our 8 year relationship, so loooong before we were even engaged, let alone TTC. We picked Harli Rose for a girl and liked Tyler for a boy. Tyler we knew would never work with our last name (Tang). Harli Rose we fully intended on using until we really got serious about having a baby. Then we started talking about different names and we both decided we didn't like Harli enough.
It was a few years before TTC (whenever the first season of Celebrity Rehab was on, lol) that DH "found" our boy name. One of the cast members, Brigitte Nielsen, has a son named Killian. DH fell in love with the name and it grew on me. It is the name we've decided on (with a slight spelling variation - Kilian) and we've been using it since 20 weeks when we found out we're having a boy. We still aren't really sure on a girl name, but we both like Sienna. I'm glad we don't need to decide yet anyway (we hope)!!
We were trying for close to 7 years before we were successful. We had names picked out. Our girl name got super popular in the 7 years and I am not a fan of popular, so we adjusted that. Our boys name kind of got rearranged because a friend of ours used the name and my FIL passed away before LO was born... So yeah, plans change.
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

I've loved the names Lily and Ella for as long as I can remember. I thought of the name Ambriella (nn Ella) a couple years ago before my husband and I were even together, let alone expecting. We're not sure if we're having a girl, but if so he's agreed to Ambriella and I plan on using LIliana/Lily if we have another girl in the future. If we have a boy, however, we're in trouble because we can't agree on a single name!
we 'officially' agreed on our boy name about a month or so ago (though I had it in my head for a while before that) and we plan to TTC later this year. The name is Henry Anthony fwiw, both first and middle are family names so that was why we settled on it already.
Girl name is still tbd but there is a pretty short list we have talked about, and we have similar taste. Actually, girl middle name (Lynn for my mom) is agreed upon already. Apparently we are pretty decisive with names lol.
I have also loved thinking about baby names since I can remember, it has been a favorite topic/game among my sisters and me through the years. And Ive lurked here forever

I really want to use family names. I'm big into genealogy so who knows how far I'll want to go.
I play the same game with DH sometimes, when he's in the mood. We are getting ourselves ready (I'm finishing school this may, need to get a job, settle down, etc.) before ttc, which probably won't be for another year. But, the reason for my question is that my brother and his girlfriend told us that they have names picked and agreed upon for when they have babies. They really haven't given much clue that they are serious, so I'm hoping this is a sign. I really like his current girlfriend, and would really like to have her for a sister in law. I am keeping my fingers crossed.
I've had certain names in mind that I liked for years, but I didn't actually pick/decide on a name for my LO until after she was born. We had picked a handful of names (boy and girl since we didn't know which it would be) and just decided on one in the delivery room after she arrived.
Ever since I was little I had the name Michael picked out probally because it is the male version on my name, Michelle. I did marry a Michael so the first son was easy to name. I also always had a girl name picked out Sarah and funny thing was that is what my husband always wanted to name his daughter. But we are having a second boy and both of us cant make up our minds.
DH and I started dating our sophomore year of HS and we've talked about baby names since we were probably 18. We are in our mid 20s and our names have changed. We had Emily picked out for a girl. He still loves it, but I'm lukewarm about it. It's a pretty name, but I'm kinda over it. I had no idea that is was popular. We also had Nicholas picked out for a boy and I really like it, but he doesn't like it with our last name. We didn't talk about names until a year after we were married. We aren't pregnant now, but are pretty set on Zachary (which was the middle name we had picked out for Nicholas) for a boy and either Elizabeth or Caroline for a girl.
My favorite names growing up were Gabrielle and Hannah. Hannah became too popular and my DH abhors Gabrielle. As you can see from my siggy, we went a different route
DH and I have been together since 1997 and we used to talk about names when we were dating/engaged. The only one we talked about then that is still on our list is William, for DH's grandfather. That's our boy name and we haven't changed our minds on it.
We didn't pick our daughter's name until I was pregnant with her, and even then, we were going back and forth between two names the week I gave birth.
DH and I have had our boy's name picked out since about 2000, so going on ten years now (we have a girl, but didn't know what we were having while I was pg, so planned on using that name if we'd had a boy).
We've always liked DD's name since Amalia Rodrigues is one of our favorite singers. I guess it officially made it on to the "top 3 names we would use for a daughter" list about 6 months or so before we started TTC.
I had a list of names in my cell phone for about a year prior to TTC. When I heard a name I liked, I put it in my phone. Most of the names DH didn't like though, so my list was basically pointless!
back in highscool at the age of 16 when me and my husband were dating (now almost 22) names picked Mya Evelynn & Jayden Romeo now i'm having a girl but don't know if i should stick with Mya Evelynn V_____ or just come up with something else?
We talked names before we were even engaged. He said he liked Aiden and I loved the way it sounded with our (future) last name. However, at the time, I didn't realize how popular Aiden was, and now we've turned away from it. I've like Ainsley since I was probably 15 or 16, and he's fine with that one. We'll be stuck if we ever have a boy though, because we only agree on about 3 and I'm not in love with any of them.
We'd talked names before TTC and liked a couple of them but we didn't settle on specific names until after we'd been TTC for a while. We've had names picked out firmly for about 3 months now.
We did find that when we were faced with the actual reality of TTC that our choices changed. We got a little more conservative and traditional.

We never even talked about it until I was pg with DS. Even now, I'm almost 18 weeks pregnant with my twins and we just have boy/girl names picked out. If it's boy/boy or girl/girl, we have one name and will battle it out over the second name.
Re: how long before you had kids did you have names picked out?
My husband & I met & started dating in 1995.

But DH and I have discussed it for the last year or so... We fully plan on using our boy name - this name has NEVER changed (Ryan Richard).
For a girl... we like several things, so that could change in the future

I had a huge list of girls names picked out since I was little. When we found out we were having a girl I ran the names by DH. He shot them ALL down!
Thankfully we came up with a small list together of names we both truly loved. Names I didn't think of when I was little.
DH and I have been together since 1997 and we used to talk about names when we were dating/engaged. The only one we talked about then that is still on our list is William, for DH's grandfather. That's our boy name and we haven't changed our minds on it.

With #1, we had her name picked out about 3 days after we found out we were having a girl, so not even 16wks.
This baby, she still doesn't have a name and I fully expect to go into the hospital w/o one.
Before we got married.
I honestly don't think I could have married someone who insisted our kids have craptastic names (like adding randonm y's, for example)
