Natural Deliveries in MidCities?

Hello there! My husband and I are TTC and I have a question that I'm hoping you ladies can help with.

We're interested in a completely natural birth but still want to deliver in a hospital. I've heard that hospitals in the HEB/midcities area aren't very friendly to drug-free births (ie: try to induce, no birthing tubs, quick to rec'd c-section, etc) and I'm just wondering if any of you have had any experience with either HEB hospital or Baylor Grapevine's approach to natural childbirth?

Any advice on doctors or these hospitals would be much appreciated! TIA

  • I know that Baylor Dallas is very accepting of med free births... not sure about Grapevine though :)

  • My friend had a completely med free birth at Grapevine
  • All the Baylor's support Med Free.  The one in Downtown even has a Midwife Clinic.
  • A friend of mine just delivered at HEB a few days ago med-free and with a doula.  A few other friends have delivered at Baylor Grapevine med-free, but I'm not sure if they had a midwife or doula with them.
  • i delivered med free at Baylor Grapevine - as far as i know, they don't allow midwives to deliver there but they are very supportive of natural births - they have birthing balls available and have tubs for you to labor in (though i don't think you can actually birth in the tub) - the staff was also very supportive of me delivering naturally and of my birth plan - even though my OB is very supportive of med free births, i hired a doula to support me during my labor

my OB is Dr. Julia Flowers - she isn't currently accepting new GYN patients, but she's taking OB patients if you're already pregnant
