  • DS babbles "mama" all the time.  He has no idea that I'm mama though.  He has yet to babble "dada."

  • I feel like a snowflake on this one. DD started going mamamama for over a month before she just said mama. However, she said dada for the first time a few days before saying just plain mama for the first time without ever going through a dadadada phase. So technically, its dada, I think.

  • she says da-da all the while and calls me "eh"  .. yesterday I got home and heard her mumble ma
  • He makes the "da" sound a lot, but has no idea what it means.
  • She was an early babbler. She started saying "dada" at 3.5 months and "mama" at 5 months. I think she is just starting to realize what "dada" means at this point, since we all freak out with the "yes! dada!" and "that's a good girl, dada!" but just barely.

  • He babbbled the dadada sound first, but says Mama with meaning and not Dada yet, so technically I win :)
  • She's always been a babbler.  I think the "Mamamama" sound came before "dadadada" sound. She's geat at imitating but it has no meaning, it's all just sounds and tounge play.

  • tha tha tha...something like that. also says da da at times.

  • He babbled Mama first, but he is more consistent with Dada. He doesn't say them *about* either of us yet, but if we ask him "where's Mama/Dada" he does normally look at the proper person. I sadly suspect he will say Dada to DH first, despite me being home with him all day :(

Secretly (maybe not so secretly) I'm hoping he says something else entirely first - like "kitty" just so neither DH or I is hurt. We'd swear it didn't matter, but deep down, we'd be upset if he said the other one first.

  • DS said Mum-Ma first & dada within a few days after. He'd been babbling ma-ma, da-da, mum-mum, & other variations for a little over a month before he said it for real. He doesn't say da-da very often, but says mum-ma all the time.
