DD wants a specific dress for her 8th grade dance VERY badly.
I have already bought her one dress (that was inexpensive) and want to surprise her with the dress she really wants (also not very expensive). I am okay doing this b/c I know she will have an opportunity to wear both dresses.
Trouble is I don't know what size to order. She almost always wears a 1, but on rare occassion needs a 3 and to have it altered down.
Should I kill the surprise and take her to try it on? Order a 1 and hope it fits knowing I might have to deal w/ the hassle of returning, even if unlikely? Order a 3 and plan on alterations?
If at all possible I would like to surprise her.
Re: Dress shopping size - WWYD?
If you can go to a store to see it, would it be possible to take in one of her current dresses to see how it compares size-wise?
I would go with a 1 and then hope it fits. It sounds like there's more risk in ordering a 3. Or as other's suggested - order both and return one. (A little mroe $, but less hassle.)
I might just order them both. That had not crossed my mind. The dance is in May though and I am afraid I might not be able to still return the one that doesn't fit.
We are going to be in Houston near the Galleria this weekend. I could take her in to try it on, tell her she can't have it since I have already bought a dress and then come home and order the right size and surprise her the night of the dance.
That's kinda cruel though.
I'd order both and then return one.
When are you planning on giving it to her? Don't most stores have a 90 day return policy?
Good idea!
This.
