So, I have been weaning from pumping and instead of mostly breast milk, the girls are getting mostly formula now. They were fine until this weekend when they started getting really fussy from gas. I switched them to Similac Sensitive (from Similac Advanced) to see if that helped and it hasn't. They SCREAM in pain most of the day and I feel so bad. After they fart, they calm down for a few minutes until they scream (and fart) again. Rinse and repeat.
How much of this is normal newborn gas stuff? I plan to take them to the pedi today because Sophia hasn't pooped in almost 2 days now. I just don't want to be "that mom" that runs her kids to the pedi for stuff that is normal, but my heart is breaking to see them in pain.
We have tried Mylicon and gripe water and nothing helps...
Thanks for any advice/input.
Re: baby gas :(
It took about a week for my DS to see a difference from Similac sensitive. I used Mylicon before every feeding until I felt I could ween him off that. It didn't always help, but sometimes it eased it a little. When he was super gassy, I would lie him on his tummy on my lap and rub his back, that would help him fall asleep.
Also, it is normal for FF babies not to poop as much, some can go 3-4 days.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!
We tried Similac Sensitive and had the same problem. About a week ago we switched to Enfamil Gentlease. With in 24 hours there was a huge difference with the amount of gas Jake was experiencing.
Good luck!
