My mom wears reading glasses only...and that didn't start until she was in her 50s. I wonder about this too...DH wears glasses, but I don't (yet...almost 29)
wait what? you think it's uncommon for someone over 30 not to need glasses in some respect?
Not uncommon. I was just wondering if anyone else was in the same boat. My Dad ended up needing them in his early 30's. I have a birthday next week, and it got me thinking. That's all.
My dad just got reading glasses a couple years ago, when he was about 60. He seriously may be the only "adult" that I know of that doesn't have glasses. (Well, I guess my brother doesn't either- he'll be 30 in a couple months.)
I have worn them since I was 12, but my dad started wearing reading glasses in the last few years (he's 60) and my mom still doesn't (she's 57). As most people get older (50+) they will probably need reading glasses at a minimum.
My Grandma never needed glasses. I am pretty sure that my grandpa doesn't wear them and he is 70. My mother wears them for reading but her and I are big readers and she always read in dim light so it strained her eyes too much. I have a feeling that i might need them for reading in the next 10 years.

Both my parents both had 20/20 vision until they reached their 50's when they started requiring reading glasses. That being said, my sister and I are somehow both pretty close to legally blind (glasses since the 1st grade). DH is 31 and doesn't need glasses.
I don't wear glasses, but my vision is quickly deteriorating. I probably need them for driving. My parents both wear glasses, but didn't start until their 40s. I think with we'll be lucky to last until 40 with most of us staring at computers screens all day.
We both have very good eyesight. Only 1 sibling out of the 6 combined has glasses and she doesn't even wear them that often. I am shocked though since we both work at computers all day that we don't have problems.
I definitely think the computer is going to play a major role in my need for them. Some days I leave here and I wonder if I need to get my eyes checked. One more birthday = me debating an eye exam. Ugh. LOL
I don't but I am only 26 righ tnow. My mom didn't need them until after 50. Then it is only for reading for her. On the other hand my hubby has had them pretty much since Kindergarten.

I'll be 41 this year in August and I still don't need them. My mom didn't start wearing them until sometime in her 50's. I can't remember when my dad started to wear them.
Both of my parents only wear them to read, and this only started within the last 10yrs or so? Maybe even more recently.
I lucked out and got my aunt's crappy vision and have been wearing glasses since 2nd grade. Everyone's trying to convince me to get Lasik but it gives me the heebie-jeebies.

My 2nd pregnancy ruined my eyes. I had fluid build up under the cornea, and it didn't go away after DS1 was born. But they didn't get any worse when I was preg with DS2 luckily. So if not for that, I'd still have perfect vision.
DH had LASIK, so his vision is perfect now, but he was blind as a bat before. He had astigmatism, too. Both boys have perfect vision so far, and DH had to get glasses in preschool. I think he was 3?
My dad only started wearing reading glasses recently, like the last year or 18 mos. My mom has astigmatism and has worn glasses since she was about 7 or 8 years old.
Re: Are there any 30+ y/o that still don't wear glasses??
I only just started wearing them when I was around 26. I only need them for the computer though. I was getting headaches everyday at work.
Both of my parents have them, and so do DH's parents. But DH has no problems with his eyes at all.

I've worn glasses/contacts since the second grade, but DH turns 30 in May and he doesn't need them at all. LUCKY HIM!
Both of his parents wear glasses to drive/read I believe, but I don't think they need them all the time.

Nope, 20/17 vision!
Both of my parents wear glasses - well, my mom wears them everyday, my dad mainly wears them for reading now.
