When was your child the sickest? at what point did they start getting better? and did the cough linger? Pedi has given me a lot of info, but like to hear "real world" experiences, too. and I know everyone's child is sick to a different degree. I'm curious too as to what sort of longer term affect this will have on him....pedi says that babies with RSV will need special attention when they have colds/etc until they're at least 2-3 years old.
Griffin was diagnosed on Tuesday...pedi said he would likely be at his worst within 24-48 hrs of that. Tuesday night was terrible, he seemed better during the day on Weds, but during the night last night woke up a lot, and we had to give him a breathing treatment at 4 am because he was coughing and breathing hard. He's seems better this morning, still has a low grade fever....
Re: Tell me about your experience with RSV...
She had a fever for 3 - 4 days before the cough and congestion started. Then she was REALLY sick, wheezing, coughing, etc for about 4 days. They put her on breathing treatments and she cleared up within about 2-3 days almost completely.
Good luck. It's no fun, and it's a rogh couple of weeks.
Gibby had it early in jan - we went to the ER and his oxygen was OK so they gave us a nebulizer and sent us home. that was on saturday- by monday it was worse- he couldn't sleep more than 5 min without horrible coughing - went to the pedi- he said it was full blown bronchitis and put him on antibiotics- he started to feel better the next day - but the cough has lingered since then - 2 months later... i think he'll have it until april. He doesn't cough much during the day- but when he wakes up in the am he coughs for a few minutes straight, still! The doc has checked him many times since then and his chest is clear now - it's just the lingering daycare cough.
it's always worse at night and in the am.
