Has anyone had to correct LO's eyes?

Yesterday I was looking at a video that FI had recorded of DD in her jumperoo.  At one point it was really obvious that DD's eyes are off.  In pictures and in person, you can't tell that much of a difference but the video pointed it out clearly.  FI saw it too so we're taking her in to the pedi.

I'm assuming that they'll either put drops in her stronger eye or a patch.  Anyone have any experience with this?

Re: Has anyone had to correct LO's eyes?

  • DS has worn a patch over his right eye for a couple of weeks now.  He is finally getting used to it (after we had to switch to latex free patches).  It took several months of followups before the ophthalmologist decided that a patch would be necessary, he wanted to see if his eyes would correct themselves.  We go back in May for another followup to see if glasses will be necessary.

  • Do you mind telling me what they did to verify he needed a patch? Anything you had to bring?
  • We will be finding out next week if we need to do anything for DS's eyes. At our 6 month appt, the pedi expressed some concern that his one eye was looking inward. He called it possible esotropia/exotropia. He mentioned an eye patch or surgery but we don't know yet. It seems very slight so I'm hoping a patch will do the trick.
