Can someone explain to me why people are surprised

when a captive wild animal kills a trainer? I am always so confused by that. You keep a 15 ton wild animal in a relatively small confined space and when they attack everyone is shocked.

Shiit like what happened today is exactly why I don't like places like Sea World, Six Flags Safari's, circuses and zoos.

Sorry. I don't usually say anything here but when stuff like this happens it makes me angry. I do think it's terrible that a woman lost her life and I feel horrible for her family. I just don't think people should be surprised.

It is horrible. And no, I'm not suprised. 1. It's a friggin' killer whale. 2. Your dressed up like a seal (what the killer whale eats in the wild) 3. you expect the killer whale not to attack you when your dressed up like food?

i rest my case.

Because they want to believe the animal "loves" them as family and would set aside instinct for them.

Bottom line is they are wild animals in a cage.

I agree for the most part, but one of my best friends from high school is a trainer at the Orlando Sea World. I don't agree with a lot of Sea World's practices (ok almost all of them), but my heart goes out to her family and her friends, my friend included, that are affected by this.

I agree and I hope they release that whale and don't just "dispose" of it. It had attacked and killed two other trainers in the past (per Fox news). I don't even understand why it was still at Sea World.

It had killed one trainer in the past.

One person died in its tank, but of hypthermia. (Not a trainer, someone who snuck into the park)

Obviously, that doesn't make it better, and obviously something needs to be done so that it doesn't happen again, but I hate it when the news misreports on things.

They announced this morning that they will continue to use the whale in the shows.

They have no intention of releasing it.

I really hate Sea World...this is just one of the many reasons why.

That is sad. I was really hoping they would release the whale. I feel awful for her family.

I don't think they can release animals back into the wild after they have been in captivity for so long.

And, I agree with all of you. Wild animals are not meant to be caged.
