Those that boobies=fail

After reading a couple stories behind the badge, I got curious. How many of us that had issues, particularly if you didn't have any milk or near non-existent supply, had c-sections? Those stories I've read have all had c/s so I'm wondering if somehow there is a connection. My Dr. never heard of anyone having issues or not having anything come in or for such a brief time. I'm also curious if you are an older mommy and if this is your first.

Thanks for sharing.

Re: Those that boobies=fail

  • My fail was purely my fault. I had a c-section and had problems afterwards and wasn't able to feed her for 24 hours because I was so out of it. Once I actually started to breastfeed she was losing an insane amount of weight so they told me it was best to supplement, after getting the bottle boobies were a thing of the past for her. I tried pumping but with my schedule I knew it wasn't going to work. Feeding was easy because I had a cover I knew I could just feed on the spot, pumping was harder because I had to find an outlet to plug in my pump... I just wasn't able to pump when I needed to and my supply is officially gone as of 2 days ago..

  • I did not have a c-section and my milk never really came in. I tried everything docs & nurses suggested - NOTHING. I thought for sure I would have an ample supply since my boobies got to 38F!!!!!!!!!!
  • I didn't have a c/s but I have 1 flat and 1 inverted nipple so I had to use a shield from the beginning. Then DD wasn't gaining weight even though she would nurse for a long time so the doctor made me pump to see what I was getting and it turned out to only be an oz, maybe 2. DD ended up hospitalized for dehydration. Now ?I mix about an oz of BM with 3 oz of formula for each bottle. It's the best I can do!
  • i had a c-section have struggled a good bit with a low milk supply. i never thought it would be a problem and it's been so frustrating. i don't think it's related to the c-section-my mother had c-sections with all of her children had an excessive amount of milk. i guess you never though. i would like to know the cause even though i can't seem to do anything to fix the problem. i've been supplementing with formula since she was 2 wks old.
  • My milk never came in despite numerous efforts for a week with the breast feeding consultant.  I had a c/s however my issue was that I had a  breast reduction when I was 16 which severed the connection with the nipple!  I was heart broken I could not give my DS breast milk, but I tried for almost three weeks with no luck!
