higher heart beat = girl?

We were able to hear the heart beat for the first time today. It was 160 bpm. The old wives tale claims anything over 140 is a girl. Has anyone found any truth in this?

    Mine was 159 at 15 weeks and 145 at 20 weeks. It is a boy: )

    Mine has been 160 and 154 and it's a girl (we think)

    It was true for me, but one of the OB's I have seen said her two boys were up at 160 like mine was.

    We don't know (yet!) but we've had two HB's shared with us at the last two appts- 156 and 138.  Looks like no matter what we have, we're proving the OWT wrong! =)

    At my first appt it was 160 and at my last appt it was 144 and he's a boy! =)

    With both my kids it has really varied with my son it was always usually around 155-160 & and now with my daughter it has been as low as 144 too as high as 177 one time. The OWT weren't really true in my case!

    It really is a wives tail. My daughter's was 171 and she was a girl but this go round we had a 183 and we were convinced it was a girl but nope, a boy!

    mine has always been over 140 and it turns out it's a lil diva! so, i guess there's really no complete truth or validation.. just wishful thinking!

    My baby's heartbeat was always in the 170's and 180's and she's a girl...so for me it was true, but I read a study that says it's just an OWT.  There are plenty of babies of both sexes that have high and low heartbeats.
    PCOS, lupus anticoagulant, MTHFR (A1298C, one copy) 2 IUIs & 1 IVF = BFN FET#1 = It's a girl! Born 7.1.10 FET#2 = c/p FET#3 = Twin girls! Born on 3.16.12 at 33w2d due to severe pre-E. After 4 weeks in the NICU they are home! Lilypie Third Birthday tickers

    Ours was at 130 at 13 weeks.  The nurse said the OWT is lower = girl.  I always heard boy = lower.  But, my husbands cousin is pregnant and hers at 14 weeks was 135 and she is having a girl!  I really don't think there is any correlation!

    Both of our twins have been around 160 at our last few appointments, we are having a boy and a girl.

    Wrong-o. 

    DS was always in the 170's

    This baby (a twice confirmed girl) is always in the 130's.

    It's called a "tale" for a reason.

    Last we checked at 20 wks it was 163 and it's a girl. I wouldn't say it's true though..Just for fun.

    Baby Prepster has been between 160-170 bpm the entire pregnancy.

    We're having a boy.

    my sister had a "boys heart rate." they had the baby bracelet beaded in blue for her. then when a vagina appeared they slid of half the blue beads, added pink, then a G to specify GIRL.

    she is a tomboy though!
