Jack is important. The lighthouse is not really a lighthouse but perhaps a metaphorical lighthouse. The Others at the Temple are somehow beneficent besides stealing all children and list worthy Oceanic survivors? Talk to me ladies!

..so, I'm assuming Christian Shepherd was always inhabited by The Man in Black, yes?
I'm also thinking that perhaps Ben was taking instructions from someone he THOUGHT was Jacob, but was, in fact. not.
I love this show, and I think I quit having theories so long ago cause it's just wacky! I do wonder though how or if they are going to tie in the sideways story to the island story.
It's interesting that smoky is telling people the truth and Jacob is the one being mysterious and not staight forward with people. Makes you wonder who will end up being the good guy.
Honestly, at this point I've given up. I'm just trying to enjoy each new episode. The show doesn't follow any type of logic, so I've given up trying to figure it all out.
But I still love the show.
Oh, I guess I do have a theory, I think the mother of David is Julliett and they split up and now her and Sawyer are together.

Dude, I'll be so annoyed if MIB is the good guy. Like, I accept it as a total possibility and it wouldn't blow my mind... but I'm tired of being dicked around by you, Lost, and I'd like to grow attached to someone who remains good.
Claire is annoying.
I do think ManinLock/Black/etc could turn out to be a good guy.
I also think Hurley will be "THE" candidate, not Jack. What can I say? I'm a sucker for the underdog.
I really like Jack as a dad. that blew my mind last night.
Here's something I don't understand. In the "non-plane-crash" universe, Jack travels from Australia to LA and everything's fine. But he has a teenage kid. Where did the kid come from? The kid doesn't exist in the "plane-crash" universe. Also, in no-plane-crash world he gets his appendix removed as a kid. In plane-crash world, he gets it out on the island.
So, the whole path of fate happened well before the plane crash? Meaning, what brought them together on the plane that crashed was a path that started WAY long ago? I love this show, but it drives me crazy sometimes!
She definaltey has a Rousou (sp?) attitude about her, "Where is my baby?" It's interesting that she doesn't have a concept of time though.

Do you listen to the Lost Podcast with Jay and Jack. They were joking about this on there last night.
You wouldn't have a concept of time either if you'd been living in the jungle like a crazy lady for 3 years!
I'm a big Hurley fan as well. I was rooting for him as the Candidate last night.
DH pointed out that perhaps the universes are bleeding over into each other... When he was still on the plane, Jack noticed a cut on his neck, which matched one he received on the island. Randomness. Also a potential red herring.
I loved that they came across Adam & Eve - because the producers have said that they are proof that they 'knew what they were doing' back in Season 1.

They were there when Jack discovered the cave. (This was back in season 1 so I'm thinking that's right.)
Adam & Eve are the skeletons in the cave. Which Hurley comments "What if we went back in time, to like, dinosaur times, and died here?" (paraphrasing, of course)
I listen to the weekly podcasts, because I'm a big dork. Carlton Cuse & Damon Lindeloff have said, in response to accusations that they are 'making it all up as they go' and 'have no idea what they're doing'... that Adam & Eve appeared in Season 1, and that when the series is all over, they will play some type of role/tie things together - so that people will have to say "well, I guess they weren't making it all up as they went, because those guys were in Season 1"

Yeah they are the skeletons they found. Theories are they are Rose & Bernard, remember they went back to live at the caves at some point, I forget when exactly.
Same goes for the black/white references. In the 1st episode Locke was teaching Walt about backgammon and said one side's black, one side's white.

I think Adam and Eve are sawyer and kate still. I think Kate represents evil, as Eve did, and all women do in the biblical sense and Sawyer will still turn around from his current path (or follow it depending on what's good and evil) and he will turn out to be the good one. Who the hell knows though, I'm just along for the ride.

He is obviously important, but I think we have know this since the first episode. Jack had the number 23 next to him. What's interesting is the 23rd Psalm.
I still want to think Jacob is good (he also just has those innocent eyes!) but with this show you never know.
I'm going to go with that Jack's ex-wife is the same and they just couldn't get Julie Bowen back to the show.
The name Wallace was next to 108 in the lighthouse. No idea who Wallace is?
I think Jacob just wanted Jack to get to the lighthouse, see that he has been watching him for all this time and that he is important.
Did you catch the sign as Jack was walking into the music conservatory? It said "Welcome Candidates!"

I think "Darlton" said that our Losties will start remembering things from the other universe and they will both come together. Like you mentioned the cut on Jack's neck he saw. There was also his appendix scar that he got out on the island but had to ask his mom about it in "Alternate Timeline".
Ah yes....one of Jack's flashback episodes was called "White Rabbit"
