a baby gate with a cat door.
I hate this rental. We have treacherous stairs going down to the basement. Seriously, my 19yr old SD has fallen more times than I can count so I know it would mean death for S. Now that he crawls he is stoked because he can go after the cats, his favorite things in the world. However, they go in the kitchen and then down the stairs to escape. He wants to follow. Now I'm faster than he is so I stop him before he gets anywhere near those stairs. But what happens when he can speed?
I guess a regular baby gate will have to do and the cats will be confined to the basement.
They need to make one of those gates or we need to move out.
Re: Oh how I need
They do make gates like that. My mom has one - she doesn't want her boxer all over the house but the cat needs to be able to get to her litter box in the laundry room. So she has a baby gate with a door in it that's big enough for the cat to get through.
I'll see if I can figure out where she got it.
ETA: Amazon has it. Google baby gate with pet door.

Thanks? I searched and all I saw were custom gates. I'll have to look and see if they ship to Canada.
They make em!

Thanks, Erin. I'll have to look at our Walmart and see if they have them there.
No problem! Although I started reading and it is a pressure mounted system. I'm pretty sure with something like basement stairs you are going to want hardware that actually screws the gate into the wall in case your DS tries to pull up on it and the pressure mounting can't support him.
I'm sure you can find it somewhere though, hopefully.
