I've had yet another terrible experience w/an RE (my 2nd

) and am wondering if any of you Chicago area ladies have one you love that you'd recommend. I'm in the NW burbs, but would consider traveling for the right one. My next step in IVF, so if you've done this w/the Dr. you'd reco, I'd love to hear about your experience. You can PM me if you prefer. TIA!

Re: Chicago ladies - need RE reco
We had a great experience at Northwestern REI downtown. Our RE was Dr. Barnes, but all of the REs in that practice are excellent. It can feel a bit like a factory at times, since it is so large, but the care is top notch and they are consistently ranked among the best in the area.
let me know if you have any other questions!
Because we're fancy like that.
Us too! Although, so far we've only consulted with him, then nurses have carried out our IUIs. We're consulting with him again in 2 weeks to start prepping for IVF. I feel like FCI knows what they're doing, they are very thorough and on top of things, but they are a bit of an assembly line, IMO.
Was it awkward switching Drs. within FCI? Did you switch to a different office or change Drs. within an office? My latest RE is at FCI and I wasn't sure how they would handle it if I changed to another.
My latest problem is that my Dr. is on vacation next week and REFUSES to let another Dr. perform the post-op saline u/s she wants me to have (time sensitive) since she will be gone. I refuse to go on BCP/lose a month, as this is completely unacceptable (and not the first ridiculous thing they've done).

this! They really take care of their IVF patients. My Dr is Dr. Kazer, but Dr. Barnes did my retrieval and he was great. The staff is very friendly and the nurses are great and get back to you very quickly. Like today I called and a nurse called me back in 10 minutes.
I switched to a different office, and therefore switched doctors. It wasn't a big deal at all...they were totally fine with it. And your current RE sounds a little crazy. Who is it if you don't mind sharing? Dr. B was on vacation during one of my IVF cycles so she had another Dr. monitor me...seems odd yours would be so uptight about something like that. That is supposed to be one of the benefits of a large practice!
Thanks. I'm currently with Dr. Feinberg in Hoffman Estates, who I absolutely loved until last week.. when I called but she didn't seem to care that my stomach was bleeding from all the drugs she put me on and now this week w/the u/s fiasco. I think I'm done.

I am also in the Chicagoland area and working with a Doc in the Hinsdale area. Can I ask which Dr. you are working with? I am going on to IVF #2 our final attempt as we are 100% OOP. My first failed and I am keeping hope that A. It will work for us and B. that we are working with the right clinic.
I have low ovarian reserve and respond poorly to stimms. The only change this round is the amount of medication that I will be on. I am starting at 300 rather then 150, so I just hope this works for me.
I have not heard anything good or bad on my Doc either, which kinds of worries me. I am just wondering who you were with as well?
Good Luck to you
Dr. Deutch, Advanced Fertility in Crystal Lake.
Did not like Dr. Karande, InVia Fertility in Hoffman Estates.
Good luck!!!

I love, love, love Dr Kaplan at FCI. I switched from another Dr. there. Dr Kaplan has a totally different approach to my treatment then last doc. If you did end up working with him he works with FCI at Highland Park IVF also, which may be easier for you to get to. GL!
FCI- Dr. Sipe. His nurse, JJ, is great and is very responsive, even when I call with the strangest questions.
