1st Trimester

What can I eat???

I feel soooo sick all the time and I know I have to eat, but I really don't ever feel like it. I have the hardest time even thinking of food let alone eating it. When I do eat, I can't eat very much. What have you ladies found to be something easy to eat with m/s?? I feel like I'm starving my baby!!!

Re: What can I eat???

  • I ate alot of nuts in the 1st tri, they're high protein so good for baby and not very heavy so it didn't make me throw up right away....

also taking unisome helped a ton!!

  • I found comfort in Claussen pickles the other night.

I also am best friends with Cap'n Crunch

  • You aren't starving your baby.  Your baby gets everything first from you, and if there isn't enough, you are the one who starves.  So it's ok.  Your baby is getting plenty.
  • baby wont starve: they take everything they need from you. So you may suffer, but baby wont

When i had bad m/s my doc said eat whatever i could/sounded good. B/c I was losing weight. So for weeks i lived off of starches (pasta, mashed potatoes, cereal) and had hardly any fruits b/c i couldnt keep them down.

  • Ritz or Club crackers between meals always works for me.  I also keep some instant oatmeal in my office for a change.  Carbs seem to work good for most people.  Hope you're feeling better soon!

  • Thanks everyone! It makes me feel a lot better knowing I?m not harming the baby by not eating when I can?t. I?ve read so much about how important it is to eat every meal because when you don?t eat, the baby doesn?t eat. I felt bad eating only 3 slices of cheese for dinner last night and only half of my lunch. I?m also going to try taking my prenatals in the evening rather than first thing in the morning.  Thanks for all the suggestions. I will have to go to the grocery store and pick up a bunch of stuff? trial and error I guess!

  • I eat a LOT of cantaloupe when I'm not feeling well. I don't know if it's because it's cold or doesn't have a strong flavor or what, but it really helps me.
  • things that are easy for me to get down when i dont feel like eating are mashed potatoes, cheese cubes, yoghurt, oatmeal-
  • I had that same problem around week 7 through 11. If there is anything you are hungry for, eat it. I ate a lot of pickles and fruit. The juiciness helped for me. I had a lot of trouble eating dry stuff like sandwiches and chips.
