do i mix them together in a bowl?  do i put the maalox on with cotton then the diaper cream or the other way around?  tia:)

Re: So, how does the Maalox/diaper cream trick work?

  • I mix a small tube of Lotrimin AF with an equal amount of vitamin A&D ointment together, add a tbsp of maalox, and then thicken the mixture with corn starch.  Then I rub it on Kelsey's butt just like you would with regular butt cream.
  • Loading the player...
  • I use Mylanta and just pour some in my hand and pat it on his butt very gently. It's the most effective thing I've used for diaper rash.

Oh yeah, we tried this over the weekend. Thanks for the tip, it worked pretty well. DS is almost cleared up.

    Yay!

  • yes, it works.  There are several different recipes.  The one I was given...

1 tube A&D + 1 tube Destin + 1 tube bactroban cream +1 tbsp maalox.  Stir for 10 minutes.  It goes through several consistencies during the 10 minutes.  And it actually takes ane ntire 10 minutes of active stirring, but the results are fan-freakin-tabulous!

  • I mix Maalox and Aquaphor together.  I just eyeball the consistency after mixing it and add more of one or the other till it's the right consistency (like any other diaper cream, maybe a little thicker).  Slather it on real thick.

    It works very very quickly.
