We already painted the nursery, but the closet was still full of stuff so we didn't paint it. Now that I have everything out of there to make room for baby stuff, I notice that the shelves are dirty, scuffed, marked up etc. and it has flat white paint, so wiping them out with some cleaner won't do the job. I hate the idea of typical shelf paper, but I really don't want to paint in there, either.
Anyone have ideas or pics they can post as a solution? The room is chocolate brown and baby blue. I've considered wallpaper, linoleum, painting only the bottoms of the shelves... Any ideas are welcome!
Re: Alternative to painting dirty closet shelves???
I buy wallpaper, take the shelf out and measure the wallpaper to size. Then I use watered down white glue and brush a coat on each surface, then fold the paper over both surfaces, leaving the gap on the edge that will face the wall.
Looks very custom, the surface is washable and durable.
