I did. I actually stopped working 3 months before DD was born ( I have a wonderful DH). I worked in customer relations for a small company that set up trips for children in schools.
I actually asked the same thing the other day about how long everyone would stay home! I said that I would probably go back to work in some way once the kid(s) were a lot older, meaning high school and above. But, you never know what will happen, maybe I will never go back to work or maybe I will go back sooner than I mentioned (hopefully not;).
I was more or less laid off while 4 mos pg with my first. I was a marketing graphics designer. I would've chosen to be a SAHM at first but we didn't think we could do it financially. When I got laid off, it was the push for us to make it work. I plan on being a SAHM for as long as we're financially able to, but at least until all of my children are in school full time.
Yes. I was a teacher. I am not sure how long I will stay at home. I plan to sah at least until DS and DD are in middle school and then we will see what happens. I will probably sub some when they are in elementary school and would like to volunteer at the school as well.
I quit my job too. I was an RN and I plan on being a SAHM for as long as I can. Possibly until our youngest is in preschool, then go back part time while they are in school.

Yes, I was a corporate trainer. I'm not sure how long I'll SAH. My DH thinks it will be forever (he seems okay with that) but I think I'll probably go back part time at some point.
No, I still work p/t, but very minimal hours these days.
I am a corporate librarian.
I've been working p/t for 2.5 years and hope to do it for as long as I can... but with some changes coming in the company I suspect I'll be a f/t SAHM by this summer.
I'd like to SAH more than I work until DS is atleast 4 and go back to working f/t then, but nothing with crazy hours.
I quit while in the early weeks of my pregnancy because I was unahppy, unfulfilled, and unchallenged in my current JOB but would've quit regardless of being pregnant.
i have always wanted to be a SAHM and quit my job as an architect after having my son.
i actually work PT now as a floral designer but the hours are so flexible that i still feel more like a SAHM. i plan to work a little more once all my kids are in school. hope to not work 40 hours a week though (want to make it to school activities, etc).
I actually just resigned from my job as a Probation Officer yesterday. I still have yet to clean out my office! I'm excited to begin this new chapter in my life, but I know I will miss my job. Only time will tell regarding how long I will be a SAHM. I know I will re-enter the work force again in the future when opportunity presents itself.
I quit my job as a mental health counselor in order to sah. I usually went in around 3/4 pm and came home after 9 pm about four days a week. Finding childcare for those hours was difficult and expensive. It wouldn't be financially worth it in the end. Since we plan on 1 or 2 more I figure I will probably be home for the next 7 years if we have 2 kids. maybe longer depending on when they start kinder.

I guess technically I did. I went on maternity leave for a year (which is standard here in Canada) and told my boss around the 9 month mark that I wouldn't be returning.
I worked in publishing, doing accts payable and receiveables.
I plan to sah until the kids are school age and then hopefully get a part time job that will work around school hours.

Yes, I was an elementary school teacher. I'm planning to SAH until all of our kids are at least in school (unless something happens to DH's job and all of our savings), and may just go back part-time at that point. It's a ways off, so who knows at this point?
On our way to 3 under 4!

Baby Boy Due This Summer!
I'll probably never go back to work full time. I'll work super part time when all children are in school full time. My DH's work schedule just isn't conducive to me being able to count him to pick up kids from school or what have you. Plus we want me to be at home to help kids, take them to functions, etc.
Sort of - I was a full-time grad student in the midst of a career change (to elem ed) - I graduated about 2 months before DS was born. Before that I worked in advertising.
I want to SAH until youngest is in kindergarten (we want 2 kids); we'll see if finances allow that.
Yes. I was a mortgage underwriter and quit when my first DD was born. I plan to go back to work in some capacity when they are all in school full time. Either part time while they are at school like a pp said or ideally as an underwriter from home.
I have for 5.5yrs so far...I plan to start working from home for myself next year...if I can get any clients. I plan to only do small projects. I am hoping to never have to go back to working in a firm F/T. I want more flexiblity than a regular job would give me. It would be incredibly stressful if I did as my DH has a demanding job as well.

At least until all kids are in school, then I plan to go to graduate school before returning to the workforce. Ideally I'll work only during the school day, so that I'm still available before and after school.
I haven't decided, DH's thinks I should stay home until DS is in school (of course if there is another child to stay home until that kids gets to school too).

No, I had my first son just before I graduated college with my BA. so i never really had a full-time, real job.
I am returning to school in June full time. SAH is not working for me and I am excited to get back to school and then eventually to work.
