I just read your pm but for some reason it is not letting me respond. Her is my response

I was originally supposed to deliver at Newton
Wellesley hospital but was sent to the Brigham by ambulance two days
before I had dd. I developed pre-e and hellp very suddenly. I was fine
during the day, started feeling sick at about 8pm, started vomiting at
10pm and was in blinding pain at the hospital at 10:30pm. They took my
bp and it was 200 over 115 and I was told I was having a baby in 48hrs
or less. It took a while to stabilize me for transport. I was given
the steroid shots (one at nwh and the second at the brigham) and
delivered about 30 hours after the first steroid shot. I am still on
bp meds 7 months later. I hope you are doing well. I know another
pre-e/hellp mom who was told not to have another baby and have heard
mixed opinions for several friends that are doctors. I was delivered
by a mfm from the Brigham and I loved her. Her name was Katherine
Economy. She now sees patients at both the Brigham and at NWH. She was
very calm but I knew I was in good hands. I would totally recommend
her. I was told by my regular ob who I saw post postpartum that I
would be referred to a mfm if I wanted to get pregnant again. They
will not touch me now. Pre E sucks and is so scary. I also loved the
brigham and while I don't know if I would have wanted to deliver there
if I did not have complications I would not have wanted to deliver
anywhere else now. I will not be having anymore pregnancies since my
wife will be having the next baby when we are ready. The NICU was
amazing! and I felt like I was really well taken care of. Hope all is
well with you and your lo.
Sam

Thank you for the recommendation. As I was reading your story, it is very similiar to mine. Although, mine started 3 days postpartum. I was in PP with vistors and all of a sudden developed this pulsating feeling in my abdomen and overwhelming hot feeling. I asked DH to get the nurse thinking that my BP was up. I just felt really off. In the matter of seconds, a team of docs rushed in and told me that it was most likely pre-e and they had to give me magnesium to prevent seizures (eclampsia). Very scary!!!! My bp was 200/110. I was terrified as well as DH and my mom who were right with me. We are terrified to have another baby but I would like to speak with a MFM to just discuss everything. We are real about it and dont want to endanger my life or the life of a baby. We are most likely going to look into surrogacy once we find someone to carry for us. That is the route we would like to go. I am still on medications myself. I am following a great Cardiologist at NWH. I was going to deliver at the BWH but was a bit overwhelmed but the size and that is why DH and I went with NWH. They too were great but I feel the Brigham is more equipped ot handle "high risk". If you dont mind me asking...what medications are you currently on? I am on labetalol. They are trying to wean me off and switch me to lisinopril. Does your BP ever spike or has it remained pretty stable? Wishing you all the best!!! Thanks for your reply!!
My bp does spike still. I am on 90mg of nifedipine. It was the 3rd or 4th med that they tried with me. I was almost readmitted 3 times. I had to go to labor and delivery triage once a day to check my bp. It took some work but they finally got it under control. GL

From what I understand, BWH has 1 high-risk practice. I saw Dr. Louise Wilkins-Haug. She delivered dd via c-section and I'd highly recommend her. The nurse practitioner in the practice is awesome too! GL!
I know you said BWH, but Dr. Bruce Cohen at Beth Israel is amazing. It sounds like you have a lot of questions. You can call his office to set up a preconceptual consult to review your last pregnancy and discuss any future pregnancies to help ease your mind:)
